Rita "Rose" Janet Boatman, 63, of Tyler passed away on Dec. 19, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Taylor; father, Willarad Mathis Boatman; and sister, Carla Thielen.

She is survived by her four daughters, Carla Graves, Susan Taylor, Tina Peterson and Joyce Davis; one sister, Linda Kalesh Feyen; and two brothers, James "Jimbo" and Thomas Boatman; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren with one on the way.

She was a longtime resident of Tyler and a faithful member and servant of Calvary Assembly of God Church for more than 20 years. She enjoyed singing, teaching Bible study classes and being a part of the Women's Ministry. She loved to write Christian poetry, often using the rose as her theme. She ministered to many through her gift of writing and singing. She worked many years in the restaurant business and later began a career as a CNA, caring for and working with many families.

The viewing will be at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Tyler at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, with Bro. Wallace officiating. The funeral will immediately follow the viewing at 2 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rita's name to The Hospice of East Texas or Pleasant Hills Children's Home.

Service will be under direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home.
