Services for Carlos “Jack” Boykin Jr., 92, of Tyler are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013 in the chapel of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with Dr. Deryl Fleming officiating. Jack will be buried at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Boykin was born September 19, 1920 to the late Carlos and Jessie Counts Boykin in Windom, TX and passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013 in Tyler. He grew up in Antlers, OK and enlisted in the United States Army on January 8, 1941. Jack served in the Pacific during WWII and then retired after 26 years of service with the Dallas Fire Department. He was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church.
Jack is preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth LaVerne Mays Boykin and a son, Carl Douglas Boykin.
Survivors include his wife, Estelle Boykin of Tyler; daughter, Barbara Ann Atkinson of Tyler; a step-son Deryl Fleming and wife Kathy of Springfield, VA; and a step-daughter, Melodye Eveland and husband Richard of Round Rock.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
